My friend once sent me an e-book called
"The EQ Edge" written by Steven J. Stein, Ph.D., and Howard E. Book. After reading it, I changed my attitude to IQ and EQ.
"The EQ Edge" written by Steven J. Stein, Ph.D., and Howard E. Book. After reading it, I changed my attitude to IQ and EQ.
First of all, do you know what IQ is? Intellectual quotient is called IQ for short, which is a measurement of people’s ability to solve practical problems. It includes many aspects and indicates people’s levels of intelligence. Most people pay much attention to IQ, thinking that high IQ is the most important thing when we solve problems. There is no doubt that IQ affects our life directly. Everyone wants to be the smart one. But does it play the most important role in every situation in our life? IQ may help us get a high score and good results in academic research, but everyone has to face the world and we need more than high scores in school.
When we grow up, we will be affected by all the things we meet and build our own Emotional quotient. In our daily life, our EQ will help us to achieve a better life and we can also improve it when dealing with different problems. Someone with high EQ has more social responsibility and morality. “Anyone can have a high IQ; it is a matter of luck.” But not everyone can have a high EQ(Steven and Howard 141). People with high EQ will be helpful and loving. They know how to be a good person and try their best to help others responsibly. As a result, high EQ will help to form a sound personality.
In our daily life, we will meet different people and make friends with them. When we make relationships with others, we only do that to someone we like. Someone we ‘like’ is different because he or she is chosen to be a friend due to the effect of EQ. People will not build relationships with someone with low EQ. All of us like to be with helpful and kind ones, avoiding those annoying people. So if you have a low EQ, you may not be welcome by your classmates or colleagues. What’s more, someone with low EQ will be faced with a lot of problems at work. Most jobs require the ability of communication with others. So when we communicate with different people, the flexibility of exchanging situations and conditions is required. We need to adjust the emotions and behaviors when facing different cases.
So after this book, I realized that EQ is so important in our daily life. Most of the times, it matters more than IQ.
