Life with the technology, or not?

With the development of science and technology, we are getting more and more dependent on those electric equipment. What we have to admit is that, we do appreciate technology because of the convenience it brings to us. We have cellphones, so we can contact each other immediately. We have internet, so we can get more information quicker. We have all of the home electric equipment that we dont need to waste a lot of time to do a lot of things. As a result, weve got more time theoretically.

But, do you really think we have more time than before? The answer is, obviously, no. Because we just have our own lifetime. So the length of your time depends on your living time. You can not change it by not doing things. So, here is the problem. Where is the time you saved?

For the society, most people do devote the time to working, which embraces the rapid development of economy or science. But, not everybody works that hard. We have so much high-tech equipment that we can have fun. You can hardly find a guy who doesnt know what computer game is now. Most of us play mobile games, which is easier to get. At the beginning, we play the games for fun or spending the boring time. But nowadays, I think a few of them play the games as if they are addicted to them. This case is just the simplest thing how technology affect us badly. There is no doubt that we rely on these things more than we imagine.

In the past, people did not have these things. But they still had a happy life. Now, we devote most of our time to technical things. Sometimes doing something without technology would be a big relief. Someone once asked, can you find me if I dont use my phone and Internet? Actually, I dont know the answer and I dont know if anyone would do such a test. But it does alarms us that we contact less between each other. It seems that we have more ways to contact, but we dont. Sometimes I would think it is because we depend on these equipment that we dont care people when we dont need them.

From my point of view, technology does help us a lot. There is no doubt that we need them. But , just dont forget to live a real life. And the world needs to be consist of real living things.

  1. Good writing and I agree with you that technology does help us a lot and that we should not forget to live a real life. You are writing that someone asked you if you could find her/ him somewhere if her/ him does not has a phone. A few years ago I was living in England and was going to meet a girl for the first time in the Centre of London, and I had run out of battery in my phone. Because of that we had decided exactly where and which time we were going to meet and we found each other. So I think you need to decide where and when you are going to meet if you don´t have your phone with you and if someone is late then the other person maybe have left and gone home.

  2. Interesting post and it got me thinking! I believe that technology has "ruined me" to a certain degree. I was born in the early 80's, when the PC, or mobile technology for that matter, still hadn't invaded our homes. Back then I used to actually do stuff, and being able to focus on it. Nowadays my attention span is that of a 3-year-old child that craves new things in an unhealthy rate. I can't even watch a movie without reading news articles on my phone at the same time...
